Crocheting / Tightening
DREADLOCKS SHOULD BE TIGHTENED ESPECIALLY AT THE BEGINNING WHEN THEY ARE SOFT AND NOT MATURE .
When you have your dreadlocks done the most important thing is to re-crochet them after 1 month, that's the time when your dreads are forming and they take shape.
It's best to learn to do it yourself, but it is not a simple procedure, especially when you have to do it on your own head. The best for tightening dreadlocks is a crochet with a thickness of 0.5mm.
When the hair grows a bit longer, you should tighten the roots by grasping between the fingers and rolling the other hand. If you do not deal with tightening dreadlocks yourself, it is worth visiting a specialist like me who will do it efficiently and accurately. Fresh dreadlocks should be tightened after 1 month from making, and then every 2-3 months.
Over time, visits for maintenance become rarer because the hair is so susceptible to tangling, and dreadlocks starts forming (MATURING) by themselves, only the roots will need a bit of attention sometimes .
Washing
There is no rule on how often you should wash your dreads . Freshly made dreadlocks should be first washed after 4 days .
After the first wash, dreads can be washed regularly.
How often? It depends on you. You will observe how your dreads behave after washing and adjust the washing frequency to your needs. Dreadlocks become heavier after getting wet, so be careful when throwing them back, because they heavily burden the cervical segment.
I advice to dilute shampoo with water 50 / 50 and pour it on the dreadlocks. it prevents shampoo from staying inside your dreadlocks .
Rinse few times to be sure there is no more shampoo inside.
Squeeze and shake water out of your dreadlocks .
Dandruff
HOW TO DEAL WITH IT?
Rinse dreads after washing well. Use cosmetics that are well known to you . Wear your dreadlocks loose as often as you can . Ensure proper skin hydration (drinking lots of fluids, supplement your diet with:
Zinc
vitamin A + E
B6
Biotin
You can also soak your dreadlocks in Nettle infusion , or solution apple cider vinegar with water (40/60) .
Make strong nettle infusion, soak your scalp & dreads for 30 min , there is no need to rinse after nettle soaking .
Take 250 ml Apple Cider Vinegar and 1 litre warm water take bowl and pour and massage mixture on your scalp repeat few times leave it for 30 minutes and than rinse .
Wearing dreadlocks every day.
New dreadlocks should be tied in such a way that they do not get too tight, because it causes damage and narrowing in places of excessive pressure.
You should use a wide, loose hair band. Whenever possible, dreadlocks should be worn loosely.
Always sleep in loose and dry dreadlocks.
